A monster Gold Mountain hit has changed the conversation for 49 Metals

49 Metals has gone from chasing high-grade structures to defining a much broader gold system at Nevada's Gold Mountain, hitting 170 metres of gold...

49 Metals (ASX:49M) has finished its maiden Gold Mountain drilling program with its thickest intercept yet, and the market has wasted little time reacting.

Shares were up around 45% at the open after DRC#22 returned 170.7m @ 0.9g/t Au from 121.9m, including 50.3m @ 1.2g/t Au.

That is not the only number worth watching.

DRC#19 returned 67.1m @ 1.7g/t Au from 169.2m, including 10.7m @ 8.4g/t and 3m @ 20g/t Au.

From veins to a system

The important shift is geological.

49 Metals says Gold Mountain is no longer being viewed as a collection of isolated high-grade structures. The latest drilling points to a much broader mineralised system containing multiple higher-grade feeder zones.

All 22 holes in the roughly 7,500m maiden RC program returned gold and/or silver mineralisation, giving the company a stronger base for follow-up targeting.

Shallow gold adds another layer

The deeper results delivered scale, but the shallow hits matter too.

DRC#21 returned 13.7m @ 2.9g/t Au from just 12.2m, while DRC#18 hit 29m @ 1.3g/t Au from 18.3m.

That gives 49 Metals multiple styles of mineralisation to chase: broad lower-grade envelopes, higher-grade feeder structures and shallow mineralisation extending south.

CEO Phil Carter said the latest results had materially advanced the company’s understanding of the Adit Zone and strengthened the case for follow-up drilling.

What’s next

The full maiden dataset is now being folded into the Gold Mountain geological model.

49 Metals is already working up priority targets for another drilling campaign before the end of 2026, with $6.8M in cash as at June 30.

Twenty-two holes built the first picture, the next program will test just how big Gold Mountain can get.
