Brightstar drills 1,000 metres and still can’t find the bottom

Two Mile Hill is getting wider, deeper and harder to box in for Brightstar Resources, with both new diamond holes ending inside mineralised tonalite.

Brightstar Resources (ASX:BTR) has pushed Two Mile Hill into new territory, with its first ever +1,000m diamond hole intersecting more than 500m of mineralised tonalite and regular visible gold throughout.

Across the first two holes of the current deep program, Brightstar has logged 53 separate visible gold occurrences.

Both holes ended in mineralised tonalite.

Bigger than the old model

The key point is not just the visible gold.

It is the size of the host.

Brightstar now interprets the tonalite at depth to be more than 300m wide horizontally, with the newly defined Shirvington Zone still open below around 700m.

That is materially wider than previously understood and sits outside parts of the existing resource envelope.

The follow-up has context

The program follows the recent standout hit of 305.4m @ 1.82g/t Au from 351.9m, including:

  • 17.5m @ 9.68g/t Au
  • 13.4m @ 8.59g/t Au
  • 34.6m @ 4.11g/t Au

The current drilling is testing just how much of that tonalite-hosted system continues at depth.

Managing Director Alex Rovira said the width of the tonalite and repeated visible gold occurrences point to material upside around the current resource.

What’s next

Two more holes remain in the roughly 3,400m deep drilling program.

Assays from the completed holes are still to come, while Brightstar is also looking at up to 10 nearby felsic intrusive targets with similar geophysical signatures.

Two Mile Hill already sits inside a 731koz resource with Shillington.

The latest drilling is asking whether the real system is much bigger than the current model.
