Bubs Australia (ASX:BUB) has secured permanent FDA authorisation for its Bubs Goat, Bubs 365 Day Grass Fed and Bubs Essential infant formula products.
The approval gives Bubs a permanent pathway into the US infant formula market and puts the company among a limited group of non-US manufacturers authorised to supply it.
The market liked what it saw, with Bubs shares jumping 35% in Monday’s morning trade.
The regulatory risk just got smaller
The FDA approval confirms Bubs’ products, manufacturing systems and scientific evidence meet US requirements for safety, nutritional adequacy and quality.
That matters because the US infant formula market is one of the toughest regulated consumer categories to enter.
Bubs is now the only Australian infant formula brand with permanent FDA authorisation.
Bigger than just branded formula
The approval also opens up more than just continued sales of Bubs-branded products.
The company says it can now pursue broader product innovation and evaluate opportunities in the US private-label infant nutrition market.
That gives Bubs another possible growth avenue beyond its existing retail footprint.
Already in more than 10,000 stores
Bubs is not entering the US from a standing start.
The company says its products are already represented in more than 10,000 stores nationwide.
Permanent approval gives it a stronger base to deepen retailer relationships, build brand awareness and expand distribution.
What’s next
Bubs will now focus on accelerating its US growth strategy, expanding retailer penetration and assessing new product and private-label opportunities.
The company will also host an investor webinar on 10 September to discuss the approval and its US strategy.
The FDA hurdle is cleared, now Bubs has to turn permanent access into permanent growth.
