Fresh off a recent raise, Impact Minerals Limited (ASX: IPT) is cashed up in a volatile market. At a time when securing critical materials is firmly in focus, KapitaList takes a closer look at Impact Minerals and the strategy underpinning its next phase of growth.
Many investors know that at the centre of the Impact Mineral’s story is the Lake Hope High Purity Alumina (HPA) Project, Impact’s clearest pathway into the global HPA market. With demand building across batteries, semiconductors and advanced ceramics, HPA is one of those quietly critical materials sitting behind the next wave of technology.

Lake Hope, Western Australia
Scalable, low cost, competitive.
Through Impact’s partnership with Edith Cowan University and exposure to Alluminous Pty Ltd’s HiPurA® process, Impact is working towards a scalable, lower-cost production route. The pilot plant is now moving into continuous mode and that matters because proving consistency is everything in specialty chemicals.
It’s a two-pronged play:
- De-risk the flowsheet at Lake Hope
- Advance the underlying processing technology in parallel
If it works, Impact doesn’t just produce HPA, it produces it competitively.
But here is where it gets interesting.
Running alongside Lake Hope is a quieter, earlier-stage opportunity that could evolve into something meaningful. The Salmon Gums Project, where Impact holds 80% via Playa One Pty Ltd, is starting to show signs of scale.
Recent work across the Kumarl tenement points to sulphate-rich clays with
the potential to produce:
- Sulphate of potash fertiliser
- Hydrochloric acid
Not just by-products, potential revenue streams in their own right.
Early exploration is expanding the system. Multiple lakes, consistent mineralisation and now an Exploration Target pointing to a material potash inventory.

It’s still early, but the footprint is growing.
A Scoping Study, led by CPC Engineering, is now underway to put some numbers around it, capex, opex, and whether this moves from “interesting” to “investable.”
For now, Lake Hope remains the main game. That’s the value driver, the near-term focus.
But Salmon Gums is shaping as more than just a side note.
With additional development opportunities on the horizon for Impact Minerals, we are watching closely.
