ClearVue breaks new ground in BIPV

ClearVue Technologies develops an industry-first manufacturing capability for energy-generating glass.

ClearVue Technologies has unlocked what it believes is a world first for energy-generating glass, potentially opening the door to a much larger slice of the global commercial building market.

The company has developed a manufacturing process that allows its Gen 3 Vision Glass to receive premium Low-E solar control coatings after its photovoltaic cells have been laminated, something no other building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) product is currently able to do.

A competitive edge in commercial buildings

Low-E coatings are a standard requirement across commercial building façades, helping reduce heat entering a building and lowering cooling costs.

ClearVue’s breakthrough allows those coatings to be applied to surface 4 of the glass, the optimal position for solar heat control, while still generating electricity.

Most competing BIPV products apply coatings to surface 5, where thermal performance is reduced.

That combination of premium thermal performance and on-site power generation gives ClearVue a point of difference as demand grows for smarter, more energy-efficient buildings.

Validated in a commercial production line

The capability has already been proven with AGC Interpane, one of Europe’s largest architectural glass manufacturers.

ClearVue’s Gen 3 Vision Glass successfully passed through AGC Interpane’s existing coating line in Germany using standard manufacturing settings, without requiring any specialised equipment or modifications.

That means manufacturers can process ClearVue’s glass using existing production infrastructure, lowering barriers to adoption and supporting future commercial scale.

Managing Director Doug Hunt said the breakthrough places ClearVue in a unique position within the global BIPV industry while significantly expanding the commercial opportunities available to the company.

Why investors should care

This isn’t simply a manufacturing milestone.

It’s a commercial one.

By making its product compatible with existing global glass production lines while delivering the thermal performance architects already specify, ClearVue has significantly broadened the addressable market for its energy-generating glazing.

As the push for sustainable commercial buildings accelerates worldwide, the company now has a stronger platform to pursue larger façade projects across global markets.

What’s next

ClearVue will now look to leverage the new capability as it expands commercial partnerships and targets major architectural projects worldwide using its Gen 3 Vision Glass technology.
