Galilee Energy (ASX:GLL) has expanded the planned Zydeco-1 sidetrack into a seven-target oil and gas evaluation program after technical work identified five new shallow oil zones above the previously targeted Stafford and Upper Tweedel intervals.
Those five shallow targets carry a combined gross prospective resource of 317.0kbbl on a 2U basis and 422.6kbbl on a 3U basis.

Five new shots above the main game
The newly quantified targets are Borsum, Richie, Discorbis gravelli, First Het and Homeseeker B.
Together, they materially broaden the well beyond the original deep-gas thesis.
The plan is now to evaluate those shallow zones before continuing into Stafford and then the primary Upper Tweedel objective.

Stafford goes off the scale
The original Zydeco-1 well also logged gas readings through Stafford that exceeded the rig detector’s 5,000-unit upper limit.
A nearby Lower Frio Stafford analogue previously tested 1.2MMscf/d of gas and 48bbl/d of condensate from an 8ft interval.
Upper Tweedel still matters most
Upper Tweedel remains the main deep target.
The original well tracked closely to the pre-drill model before being halted by a mechanical issue, giving Galilee more confidence in the expected depth and structural position of the target.
Managing Director Joseph Graham said the sidetrack now gives Galilee a broader stacked inventory from shallow oil through Stafford and into Upper Tweedel.
What’s next
Galilee now needs to finalise the sidetrack design, data-acquisition program and contractor arrangements.
Then comes the real test.
One wellbore, seven targets, and several different ways for Zydeco to work.
