Krakatoa funding fuels Europe’s next antimony opportunity

Critical minerals continue to attract global attention, and Krakatoa Resources is positioning itself at the centre of the antimony story...

Krakatoa Resources (ASX:KTA) has strengthened its balance sheet with a $2.4M placement, securing the funding needed to take its first ownership stake in the high-grade Zopkhito Antimony-Gold Project in Georgia.

The raise was anchored by a $1.8 million investment from a Hong Kong-based natural resources investor, providing a strong vote of confidence as Krakatoa advances towards earning up to an 80% interest in one of Europe’s most significant undeveloped antimony projects.

Why investors should be watching

Antimony has become one of the world’s most sought-after critical minerals, driven by defence, semiconductors, energy storage and flame-retardant demand. At the same time, global supply remains heavily concentrated in China, Russia and Tajikistan, putting secure Western supply firmly in focus.

That positions Georgia as an increasingly attractive jurisdiction.

Located between Europe and Asia, Georgia has a long mining history, established infrastructure and supportive investment policies. The country sits within the prolific Tethyan Metallogenic Belt, one of the world’s major mineral provinces that hosts significant gold, copper and polymetallic deposits stretching from Eastern Europe into Central Asia.

For Krakatoa, Zopkhito offers exposure to both critical minerals and gold at a time when both commodities are attracting strong investor interest.

A high-grade project with plenty of upside

Historical foreign resource estimates outline a substantial mineralised system containing:

  • 225,000 tonnes @ 11.6% antimony for ~26,000 tonnes of contained antimony.
  • 7.1 million tonnes @ 3.7g/t gold for over 815,000 ounces of gold.

While these estimates are not yet JORC compliant, Krakatoa’s current drilling program is designed to validate the historical model and deliver a maiden JORC Mineral Resource Estimate.

Plenty of news flow ahead

The capital raising does more than secure the first 10% project interest.

It also funds an aggressive 2026 work program including resource definition drilling, underground drilling, bulk sampling, metallurgical test work, preliminary mining studies and environmental work as the project moves closer to development.

Executive Chairman Colin Locke said the placement accelerates Krakatoa’s pathway towards 80% ownership while advancing drilling and development activities across the project.

What’s next

With funding now secured, Krakatoa is moving quickly into the next phase at Zopkhito. Investors can expect a steady pipeline of catalysts as drilling continues, metallurgical studies progress and work advances towards a maiden JORC resource and preliminary development studies.
