Meeka goes deeper and Turnberry keeps talking

Visible gold at 632.8m has pushed Turnberry well below reserve depth, and Meeka is doubling the drill power to follow it.

Meeka Metals (ASX:MEK) has reported on Hole 26TBRD010, the deepest drilled at Turnberry so far, logging visible gold within a broad shear zone around 300m below the underground reserve.

Assays are still pending, so the visual observation is not a grade result, but the geology is giving Meeka plenty to chase.

The deeper pattern is strengthening

The visible gold sits with chalcopyrite, pyrite, albite and magnetite inside an increasingly intense shear zone.

That matters because stronger shearing has already lined up with better widths and grades deeper at Turnberry.

Previous drilling returned:

  • 52.3m @ 3.0g/t Au from 474.1m
  • Including 30.6m @ 3.4g/t Au
  • 18m @ 3.0g/t Au from 533m
  • Including 9m @ 5.1g/t Au

The latest hole is now testing even deeper into the same broader system.

Meeka adds another rig

Meeka has mobilised a second diamond rig to accelerate drilling and test both extensions and the possible deeper source of the high-grade mineralisation.

Managing Director Tim Davidson said the combination of stronger shearing, sulphides and visible gold was encouraging while assays remain outstanding.

Another gold front joins the portfolio

The deeper Turnberry story comes just days after Meeka completed the acquisition of the Blue Vein, Bushpig and Razorback deposits at Mt Holland.

That package adds around 71km² of tenure across roughly 24km of prospective banded iron formation in a district that historically produced about 1.2Moz of gold.

Much of the acquired ground has seen little meaningful gold exploration for around 15 years.

What’s next

Assays from 26TBRD010 are expected in September.

In the meantime, two rigs are now testing Turnberry at depth.

The reserve already tells one story, and Meeka is drilling to find out whether a much bigger one sits underneath.
