Numbat steps up with Metal Hawk’s best hit yet

Metal Hawk's Numbat is starting to look less like a hit and more like a high-grade shoot taking shape...

Metal Hawk (ASX:MHK) has delivered its best result yet from Leinster South, hitting 9m @ 12.3g/t Au from 70m at the newly named Numbat lode.

Inside that came 5m @ 20.7g/t Au from 72m.

That’s the headline, but the more important part is what it may be telling Metal Hawk about the shape of the system.

Thicker and higher grade

The latest drilling supports the view that Numbat may be thickening with depth along a steep northeast plunge.

Other new results include:

  • 8m @ 3.6g/t Au from 40m, including 4m @ 6.1g/t
  • 3m @ 4.2g/t Au from 5m, including 1m @ 10.8g/t

The mineralisation remains open along strike and at depth.

The shoot is starting to take shape

Metal Hawk’s interpretation is that Numbat represents a north-south lode cutting across the broader Thylacine vein system.

Importantly, deeper drilling has already hit the same interpreted structure around 250m vertical depth.

That gives the company a much clearer target for the next round.

Managing Director Will Belbin said the latest result is the strongest yet at Leinster South and strengthens the case for a larger high-grade system.

What’s next

RC drilling is expected to recommence in late September, followed by further diamond drilling aimed at testing whether Numbat continues to thicken at depth.

The best hit is now in the bag, the next job is proving it’s part of something much bigger.
