Pilbara Gold pushes Mt York beyond the pit shell

The latest Mt York hits are doing more than filling gaps, they are pushing gold beyond the current resource footprint...

Pilbara Gold (ASX:PGL) has delivered another round of strong results from Mt York, with drilling extending gold mineralisation below previous work at both Main Hill and Main Hill Extension.

The 2.1Moz project is now around halfway through its major 2026 drilling campaign, with 28,635m completed to date.

Gold keeps running deeper

At Main Hill, new results include:

  • 10m @ 4.02g/t Au from 262m, including 7m @ 5.54g/t Au
  • 12m @ 3.63g/t Au from 295m, including 5m @ 7.69g/t Au
  • 25m @ 1.21g/t Au from 320m, including 8m @ 3.1g/t Au

At Main Hill Extension, drilling returned 22m @ 2.04g/t Au from 122m and 5m @ 5.47g/t Au from 81m.

More importantly, Pilbara Gold says mineralisation at Main Hill Extension appears to be thickening at depth.

The resource upgrade is the prize

The drilling is aimed at both extending Mt York and increasing confidence ahead of a new Mineral Resource Estimate and maiden reserve work for the PFS.

The program has now been expanded to 60,000m, with five rigs on site and a sixth due in September.

Managing Director Peter Turner said the deeper drilling and widening BIF zones are giving the company more reason to keep pushing.

What’s next

Pilbara Gold will keep drilling through Mt York, with assays flowing as work progresses.

A new MRE is expected in early 2027, followed by the PFS.

Mt York already has 2.1Moz, the current campaign is trying to make sure that number does not stay there for long.
