Somerset Minerals has confirmed a new copper-silver discovery at its Coppermine Project in Canada, with both of the first two holes from maiden drilling at the Talisker copper target returning thick, high-grade mineralisation beneath shallow glacial cover.
For a corridor that had never seen a drill hole, it’s a powerful start.
Thick copper from the opening holes
TARC0003 returned:
- 36.58m @ 1.62% Cu and 11.8g/t Ag from 22.86m
- Including 9.14m @ 4.39% Cu and 28.8g/t Ag
- Including 1.52m @ 9.09% Cu and 64.6g/t Ag
80m away, TARC0008 intersected mineralisation across a broader envelope of around 79 metres, including:
- 38.1m @ 1.27% Cu and 7.4g/t Ag from 41.15m
- Including 19.81m @ 2.33% Cu and 13.8g/t Ag
- Plus 35.05m @ 1.01% Cu and 4.7g/t Ag from surface
The thickness, grade and consistent silver credits immediately raise the stakes for the remaining program.

Surface results pointed the way
The discovery follows standout rock-chip assays released earlier in the week.
Sampling returned grades of up to 36.4% copper and 214g/t silver at Talisker, while the nearby Skye target delivered up to 46.3% copper.
Across Talisker, high-grade surface mineralisation has now been confirmed over 12km of the broader 17km corridor.
Somerset built the target by combining geochemistry, geophysics and structural mapping. The first drilling has now validated that model beneath areas with little outcrop and no previous exploration.
Managing Director Chris Hansen described the results as an “outstanding start” and said they strengthened confidence in Somerset’s wider target pipeline.
The scale is still largely untested
The current campaign is testing only the central 2km of the 17km Talisker corridor.
Fourteen holes have been completed for ~2,200m, with assays from another 12 holes expected progressively over the coming weeks.
Somerset also holds permits for up to 100 holes, giving it room to move quickly if further results support immediate follow-up drilling.
What comes next
The next assays will begin defining the geometry and continuity of the discovery.
Final soil results are also pending, while Skye, Jons Pit and around 20 comparable regional targets add further discovery potential across the broader project.
Talisker began as a blind target beneath glacial cover.
Two holes later, it is a confirmed copper-silver discovery, with most of the corridor still untouched.
